G Diapers... Hmmmm

They are an interesting concept but more than twice the price of disposable diapers but more environmentally friendly. I just LOVE the "g" on them. I wonder if I buy some of "g" covers they'll fit over a regular plain diaper. Very cute.

Thoughts anyone?

You can read all about them on their website.

Hi Stephe,
I have been looking at these too! I used cloth diapers for all my bio kids, only with Dydee Service! The only thing with cloth diapers is that you have to be vigilant about changing! I like the "g" too! How cute, "g" for Giorgi!
I'm still undecided at this point what we will use, maybe a little bit of both!

My friend Hayley (currently in China p/u dd #2) is using these with her second daughter and posted about them a few weeks ago- they'll be home at the end of this month, so we should be able to get a report by then, I'm curious too what everyone will think of them. Sounds like a great idea though.

Here's the link to her blog for future reference (plus she just has a way cool blog):

I've used these and didn't care for them. However, they are a better alternative to disposable diapers by far. I just didn't like them compared to some of the other cloth diapering systems I've used. Here's why:

1. The G covers wick wetness easily. There isn't any waterproof coating around the legs.

2. The inserts don't contain runny messes; the mess fills the cover. This was the number one reason I designed PooPockets the way they are designed http://newconceptions.com/about.htm

3. They are expensive.

What I would do is use the G inserts with GOOD diaper covers, not the G covers, when I travelled or was out, and use a regular cloth diapering system at home.

I think it's great that you are looking at alternative diapering systems.

I have a post on my blog that's a picture gallery of some very stylish cloth diapers if anyone want to peek:

As for daycares not using cloth, just tell them that you baby is allergic to disposables, because even if you don't see symptoms of allergy, there are hazardous components to disposable diapers that effect your child's health and that of most pets, too, especially cats. The main absorbing ingredient in disposable diapers is leathal to cats if they inhale it.

I tried these as well (got a starter pack) and found the inserts to be not very absorbent. I still use the covers as back ups when my other cloth diapers and covers are in the wash. I stuff them with birdeye flats (from little-lions.com) and they work much better that way than with the flushable inserts. You could definitely put the "little g pants" (the cotton part of the cover) over a disposable if you just want the look.
