A fun time at the zoo!!!
A newborn debuts at the zoo, standing head and shoulders above the rest. This giraffe calf strolled through her habitat with her mom.
She was born at the zoo on July 17th to mom Stella and dad Gus. Mom Stella carried her baby for 14 months and gave birth to her in the middle of the night. Giraffes give birth standing, which means the calf tumbled six feet down to the ground.
This is the first calf born at the zoo in 13 years!
They say that going to see the baby giraffe is a lesson in patience - It might be hiding inside. However, if you're lucky, you might see the little beauty nursing, frolicking or staring back at you. Well, it was our lucky day!!!
G LOVED watching the baby giraffe. Before I started video taping the baby was frolicking all over the place. It was so cute to watch!!! I have never seen a giraffe so carefree!
