Long Life Noodles
In celebration of G's 2nd Long Life Noodle Birthday!
Traditionally, a Chinese birthday party is the celebration of a long life and well wishes for even more life. Noodles are a symbol of longevity in Chinese culture. They are as much a part of a Chinese birthday celebration as a birthday cake with lit candles is in many countries! Follow Chinese custom by not breaking the noodles as you eat. (G does an EXCELLENT job of this!)
Traditions
There are some traditions practiced at a birthday that help a family tell the future of the child. Various items signifying different professions will be placed around the child, such as money, a pen or a book. The the family watches the child to see what he or she touches first. This is a rite of passage done at birthday parties to entertain the guests and to predict the path the child will travel on. You can incorporate this tradition as part of your birthday party by wordlessly placing items in front of guests and then predicting their futures by what item they touch first. (so I put out her Chinese passport, a pen and a twenty dollar bill... she went straight for the passport - G loves her BOOKS!)

I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this photo of my goddaughter! It cracks me up! This is a photo of some of the girls after my mom gave them all noise makers. Oye...not recommended unless you have lots of Tylenol on hand. lol
CRAFT TIME
Above is our Fairy Craft Table.
I photoshopped eached Fairies head onto a paperdoll body with an enchanted garden background. I supplied flowers, stickers, stars, glitter glue for them to decorate themselves as a little fairy. The craft turned out to be a real hit!!
The kids (& adults) Loved it.
