Thanks everyone for commenting on my poll and GUESS WHAT...I figured out the problem. Evidentally, blogger or my tweeking of blogger is not compatable with Internet Explorer 8.
So I need everyone that posted to try this with Internet Explorer and see if it solves the problem.
The simple solution...
There is a compatibility issue and the simple fix is to click of an icon between the address window and the refresh icon in the browser. This is the "Compatability Mode" (pictured below). While I have not certified that my blog works fully even with Compatability Mode enabled, turning it on seems to allow standard functionality/viewing.
So this is also what the internet says...
In case no compatibility icon appears there is an adjustment that can be made to IE 8 to help my site work.
o In Internet Explorer 8 locate the Tools Menu and select Compatibility View Settings
o Add the Giorgia Danette site (‘www.giorgiadanette.blogspot.com’ without quotes) in the ‘Add this website’ box
o Click Add
o You can then close the box and open the assessment Again the upgrade to version 8 for this browser is not recommended.
When Giorgia wakes up in the morning all sleepy eyed and hands me her crib blankets for me to fold and points at the monitor wavy her pointer finger saying "no, no, no, no, no". It's always five no's in a row in the cutest tune!
When she giggles every time I pull her out of the crib in the morning. (She is DEFINITELY a morning girl!)
How she says "shoes" and "bow" in the morning... like I'd forget!
How she stands for the "Bug Spray" and turns on cue for the back to get done!
When she kisses me goodbye at daycare. It's the only times she doesn't wipe the kisses off!
Love how G wants a napkin DURING her meal to wipe her hand and her face! (except any meal with red pasta sauce)
Her smile when she first sees me when I arrive to pick her up!
The days when she waves bye to EVERYONE at daycare like she's a celebrity.
The days she DOESN'T have meltdowns leaving daycare.
When she pats my computer chair and says "SEAT" meaning Sit so she can sit on the armrest of the chair and blog surf. BTW, every little Asian girl is LILAH to her. So cute. I'm not sure if she recognizes Lilah or she just loves the way her name rolls off her tongue.
How she SQUEALS with delight every time a puppy or kitty come on tv. Although she won't watch any kiddie video or show! She did however watch Sabrina the Teenage witch on Saturday just to see Salem the cat and squeal!!!
When she is so gentle with Pirate and squats down for a kiss.
How she hollers at Pirate when he puts his front paws up on the coffee table to check out what's in G's snack cup!
That G will take a nap ANYWHERE when it's that time!!!
That G will give me at least two or three good photos for every 500 I take!!
How when given the choice every night at bedtime she chooses snuggling with me first over going straight into her crib. (not without contemplation first though)
Hi everyone! I'm taking a poll. Something has been driving me nuts for about a year now. I keep tweaking my blog to get it to look just the way I want it to but between my three computers (home, work & laptop) the look shows up differently in each one. Work is the worst. On my work computer I have a flat screen monitor (not widescreen), regular laptop and at home, my monitor is a flat wide screen. So I get that the layout will look a bit different. When I design on my home computer it's completely out of wack on my work computer. I can live with it being out of wack on my work computer if YOU ALL can view it "NORMALLY" So, here are my questions...
1. On my posts TITLE do you see a fancy "G" and the the title of the post or are they on top of each other? (work computer = they overlap only on this computer)
2. On the right sidebar where my photo is in that Queen Mama frame, do you see the border on the right side of the sidebar? (work computer = piece of border is missing)
3. Scroll down the right sidebar...under "Find It Here" can you see all the links or are they only half on? (work computer = they are just out of wack on this computer)
4. Can you see my diamond and pearl footer line below my signature in each post? (completely doesn't show up on work computer)
All three of these items show up just as they should on my laptop and my home computer. I will grin and bear it if it is just some little issue with my monitor.

Alice sobs into her mother’s arms. Returning to her former orphanage was meant to be the climax of her visit to China. The staff and orphans have showered her with attention, given her presents and taken her to a fancy restaurant. But surrounded by Chinese food she doesn’t like, Alice looks utterly miserable. “The orphans think we are spoiled, not tasting this fantastic food”, explains fellow adoptee, Nanna. “Think about it. Maybe they never, ever have food like this and we’re sitting here not eating”.
The first thing that hits them about Shanghai is the pollution. “It smells a lot from all the cars”, complains Mimmi. “They drive like nuts!” The girls are disgusted by Chinese toilets and baffled by babies’ trousers, which have slits cut in the seat. “They’re naked. You can see their whole behind!” giggles Mimmi. “Maybe there are so many children here, they don’t have time to change diapers”, guesses Nanna.
Initially, the girls are pleased they fit in. “What is really cool is that everybody here looks just like me”, states Mimmi. “I’m not the only one with sloping eyes and black hair”. But as passers by hear them speaking Swedish, they become objects of curiosity. “It feels like we are celebrities”, giggles Mimmi. “Everybody gathers around us”.
After a few days in Shanghai, they travel to Zhangjiagiang where their old orphanage is situated. “I just hope we’re welcome”, confides Nanna. They’ve had no response to their letter and are worried they’ll be turned away. But as soon as they arrive, staff bend over backwards to accommodate them. The girls are touched to see their pictures in photo albums. “We really didn’t think those photos that we sent from Sweden should be so properly put in books”, confides Mimmi.
Although the girls are happy in Sweden, they’re haunted by the knowledge they were abandoned by their natural parents. “No one understands. I really feel like there’s a lump in my stomach because I know nothing about them”, confides Alice. Mimmi agrees; “If I start to think about it, it feels like the whole world is going under for me”. Visiting the orphanage seems to cause these feelings to resurface.
The principle introduces the girls to other children. Many of the children are handicapped but one girl with sad eyes stands out. “She is about our age and the problem is that no one wants to adopt big girls”, says Alice. “I would like to adopt her!” retorts Mimmi. “But the problem is teaching her Swedish now that she already speaks Mandarin…”
On the way back, everyone is subdued. “We were really lucky to be adopted to Sweden”, states Alice quietly. Tomorrow, they will return to Sweden. But first, they have something important to do. They’re getting stickers made of the four of them together. As Alice explains, after taking this trip together; “we feel even more like close friends”.
I have 13 other ouches but they weren't photo worthy! Well, maybe the one on my face but there are no stitches just a raw open wound with Bacitracin (sp) on it and it looks bloody and oozy! I think that would have sent some of you over the edge. So, word of advice, see the doc before they get to big and you need stitches rather than a little slice. Wish me luck on the three biopsy's! My doc is pretty confident that they are okay but you just never know! Now if only these stupid stitches didn't hurt so much!!! I'm tougher than this. Oh, and Pirate is giving me more sympathy that G! What's wrong with THAT picture!
She's always happy to see me when I arrive at daycare EXCEPT when she is outside on the SWING! She actually gets mad. DON'T TAKE AWAY HER SWING. On this particular day she is just not sure whether to freak out or not. She's THINKING...
I think this is what I miss most about living in Harbour Island!!! Wow! I sooo wish I was there at the weigh station when they brought this baby in! Holy Cow!
I'm a single mom with an amazing daughter! It all started when I decided I was tired of waiting to be a mom. In my search to find a little girl who needed a mommy I was led to the China International Adoption program. I actually started the process in 2005, got my paperwork to China on 1/13/06. China accepted my paperwork and gave an LID of 2/18/06. After waiting 33 months, I finally received my referral on 11/5/08 for the most beautiful baby in the world. She spent her first 11 months in Southern China just above the South China Sea and now she is home with her mama!! I hope you enjoy reading & looking at my blog as much as I enjoyed creating it.
